Papa Love

We were in Sapporo (Hokkaido) when N first pulled me into a Lawson convenience store to look at the promotion display of Miffy collectibles. Being not a big fan of such gimmicks, when he asked me what he thought of them- whether I preferred the Miffy spoon or the Miffy towel, I brushed it aside saying "Ah, we don't need such things.."

Then I saw his face. I don't think I've ever seen him look so disappointed and he pulled out this coupon pamphlet where he's been collecting quite a bit of stickers on them. And it dawned upon me- this Papa-to-be has been painstakingly buying selected stuff from Lawson with the Miffy stickers and has been collecting quite a bit of them in a bid to exchange them for a freebie for dear Puchi.

My heart just melted on the spot. All this time, he's been quietly collecting them every day so we can earn enough stickers to exchange for one of the cute Miffy collectibles. And then I felt really rotten for being so flippant initially about the "gimmick" and being a practical Mama-to-be, I picked the towel. I think that is something Puchi will use quite a bit rather than the metal spoon.

So dear Puchi, if you ever read this one day, remember that the small nondescript towel you have is one of the first gifts of love from your papa.
