I was lucky enough to be invited to a mama friend's place on Fri afternoon and it was such a treat to meet 10 other moms with babies around the same age. Well, Keina was the youngest at 4mths and if I remember correctly, the oldest baby was about 7.5mths. I had met this mama friend and another through my prenatal yoga class and incidentally they were both Singaporeans with wealthy expat husbands. Thus, the huge homes! I was in awe of the size- it was big by Singapore standards and enormous by Japanese. The idea is to have moms meet up regularly at each other's homes and I have no idea how I am ever going to host mine with 10 pairs of moms & babies in my squashy apartment but we will have to figure it out when the time comes. Each of us brought something to add to the sandwiches the host made and since I only found out about the meeting last minute, I rushed out to buy some chicken and made chicken curry! Thank goodness it was kind of a hit with all the moms except I think they don't quite understand that the gravy is the highlight- not the chicken- haha.. I had brought baguettes to accompany the gravy but none of them really caught on. Owell. Anyhow, my favorite dish (apart from mine) is the host's Tiramisu and oh goodness- I haven't had that in eons! I avoid caffeine for Keina so when the host said it was made with decaf coffee, I couldn't help going orgasmic over every mouthful- heavenly!! I MISS COFFEE!! Should I go buy some decaf beans? But then I will need a coffee maker. Sigh. But anyway, I try not to eat too much dairy anyway so I probably will not drink much of it without milk at home.
Enough about the food! As for the company, it was great getting to know everyone and I was lucky to befriend this Korean girl who studied in both Sydney and NYU. Her son was born just 3 days earlier so our babies were the closest in age I have found so far. Great to share how both of them are getting along. And she stays at the very chic Midtown where I love to shop and is near N's office so I will hope to see her quite a bit as I love going to that area.
Keina's lounging in the U-shaped nursing cushion (of course fussing for me). I think she was pretty intimidated by the crowd.
The lady in green digging into my curry.
A stare-off between a 7 month baby and Keina. And I think both these heavyweights weren't too friendly but check out how much stronger 7 month babies are- Keina's arms are a wee bit weaker so she can't lift as high.
Keina- the 'rose' amongst all the boys! There were only like 3 girls out of 10 babies so the girls got quite a bit of attention from moms around. I'm happy my first born is a girl really. Oh, and her Korean boyfriend is in blue on her left. heh.
