Happy 9th Months & Happy 44th National Day

Since coming to Singapore, Keina has been developing by leaps and bounds. So fast that I am not sure whether I will manage to log down everything. With a few peaceful minutes whilst she naps, I shall try to note a quick snapshot.

Pulling to a stand
We know that she could stand propped up but on the United Airline flight here, she started to explore a little before take-off and grabbed onto the arm rest of the seat and pulled herself up to a stand. I was so proud and so was she as she turned to grin at me cos she was so happy with herself too. Since arriving here, she has tried to pull up on anything and everything. Including the round red tub which we bathe her in so it's a bit of a struggle to keep her still during bath time. Recently, she has been experimenting with one hand off the furniture and turning sideways to look at us in glee. Another time, my mom caught her trying to show off with both hands away and that of course resulted in her bum making a big thud on the mattress within seconds.

Walking along the bed
This happened on another night where she didn't want to go to sleep. Very typical of her to try her new skills late night near bedtime. Popo and Gonggong came in to entertain her a little as I was tired and found her trying to walk from one end of the bed to another. Glad we got to share that moment together.

Hand rotation
This girl has been observing her hands for sometime now and recently figured how to flip her wrist up and down like signalling "hello" or "come over". Then a couple of days later, she found out how to rotate it which we are trying to teach her "bye bye". She has such a gentle slow-mo gesture. I call it her Princess Wave.

Shrieking
What can I say? Still like a crazed Tarzan- even on the MRT here.

Crawling
I'm not sure if she is particular about the hard cold marble flooring or if it is just her temperament but she is not a very active or adventurous baby when it comes to crawling. She has been cross-crawling with belly off the floor but 2 steps and she sits up for a rest. The longest we have witnessed her crawl is 8 steps towards the kitchen but it was after much cajoling. Maybe she would prefer walking instead of scuffing her knees?

Babbling
When tired or fussy or rejecting something, she has been saying "Uh-Mmm-a Uh-Mmm-a" or "Nnn-e Nnn-e". Both seems to refer to me or the boob but I have never thought her to say Ne-Ne for the boob so it's a mystery. Or she could be trying to say No? Not quite sure.

Play
Her favorites are still the fans. She is simply fascinated by how wind is made and would always turn towards the fans and squint as the wind blows into her eyes. Electric ceiling, free-standing to plastic freebies, she loves them all. Coming up close is her diaper wipe box which is a surefire way to get her attention. She simply cannot get enough of how the lid works to open and close and discovering that her nifty hands can pull out the wet tissues.
