But I had a major booboo in the morning. Probably my last diaper change at 6am wasn't too successful- think I was groggy and going through the motions. Or perhaps Keina really had that much poo... Basically, she pooed outta her diapers! And it was a MESS. Thank goodness it didn't get on the bed but it got on her clothes and cushion and some muslim cloths. And I also have my mom to thank to get the shit outta the fabrics whilst I tried to change Keina into fresh clothes.
Today, I feel like Keina and I understand each other better too. She is beginning to feed a little better. There is of course still the initial struggle to latch on properly but it has been much better than the night of wrestling with her as before- she literally throws her head back in frustration.
Also tried to put her in the sling today when I have gone through the motions of bathing her, feeding her and changing her dirty diaper. She was fretting about and we figured she wanted to be held. So I had the inspiration to use my sling so at least I could be handsfree as I ate lunch. Timing is of the essence. We try to eat whilst she sleeps or it will be a cold meal for me- not good for confinement practice.
Well, speaking of confinement: I absolutely believe that you need someone during this time. Goodness knows how women out there do it alone. With the body recovering and maxing out with a baby at the same time, without a full time help, I think one would not even have time to pee! As my attention wears thin sometimes, I am sooooo terribly thankful my mom is there to look out for me. There was this funny scene where I was feeding Keina as she held my waterbottle for me to quench my thirst. Mom feeding mom feeding mom. Haha.. Oh yeah, breastfeeding does make you dehydrate quite a bit- thanks Jane for the tip! Drinking a lot of the confinement tea- some ginger, dried longan, red date, black date concoction. Yummy!
On my mom, she is a blessing indeed. She is sooo patient with me as she knows my nerves get tested and frazzle easily when Keina fusses too much. She takes her job quite seriously- every morning, I see her pouring over the recipe book to check what could be nutritious to prepare for me. Every day, she helps me clean the house and with the laundry. Every day, she helps me out as I bathe Keina. Every day, she carries Keina for a while despite her bad shoulder so I could catch a little bit of nap. Every other day, she goes out in the cold to do grocery shopping for me. Every day, she is my extra pair of hands as I forget something in the midst of handling Keina- a forgotten muslim cloth, a forgotten cushion etc. Ahh.. LUCKY ME! Much better than hiring a complete stranger and sometimes, I do feel guilty about taking her for granted. She is learning how to operate things in my house and I know I need to temper myself better when instructing.
And I love love love looking at darling Keina! Newborns have fleeting smiles and is part of their natural reflexes rather than real interactive ones and Keina have shown us quite a bit so far. It may be just a reflex but it tickles my heart to see her grin. She also has a tendency to frown a little as she opens her eyes wide to look around as if contemplating the woes of this world. I try to smile at her and tell her not to but she seems to frown more. Alas, could this be from me as I have a tendency to frown at office in front of the computer? Sigh. But oh, when her eyes are open and in a quiet alert state, she is so adorable I just want to bury my face and sniff in all her goodness! I can't believe I feel so much for this little thing. In the afternoon, she was fretting and finally fell asleep. So I left her in the bedroom to pack some things in the living room but when I went back, I noticed her eyes opening. I felt a lil tired and retreated to not disturb her in case I risk waking up a Keina that wants to be held. But as I lay on the beanbag escaping, I felt like I simply couldn't do that. It was as if I as magnetically pulled back and when I returned within the minute, Keina had gone back to sleep. So I just lay beside her, staring at her tiny sleeping form.
:) I guess I am enjoying this journey~~~

I can only say welcome, welcome to motherhood.... the first day Phoebe was back home is still a nightmare to me.... there will be lots of peeing and pooing accidents to come in her lifetime... be patient to your mum yah, she is great!
btw, my fren has been admitted to hospital an hour plus ago, guess we can go see the baby tmr. With all the interruptions, I can't sleep now.
Haha..well, puchi's first big poo should have been the title of this blog. Lol~ Yeah, you're really lucky to have mum around! Likewise, Puchi is really lucky to have her mom around too~ Don't get too stressed out about little mishaps here and there. I'm sure mummy forgot to change our diapers promptly when we were younger etc but we turned out just fine anyway! =)

yeah, I am not stressed but the body just goes into auto tense mode when the baby is struggling and crying in discomfort. I may relax with more experience later I hope..
